Back in the late 70s early 80s, FUF 63 was owned by Michael Dryhurst. Sadly, she blew a head gasket, overheated and ran a big end. As a friend of Mike's, and a former engineer, I set about the task of stripping and re-building the engine. As far as I remember it was an 8.8 "Pot" engine. At this time, Mike was engaged in filming alongside John Boorman. I can't remember whether it was "The Emerald Forest" or "Hope and Glory". Anyway, having had the crank re-ground, all new shells, new rings and a head shave, the engine ran very sweetly and drove nicely via her pre-select gearbox. Sadly, soon afterwards, she blew the head gasket again. At this time, she was kept at Eastbourne, and as I was then moving to Norfolk was unable to do any more work on her. I know Mike sold her and some time later saw her at the AEC rally at Park Royal where I was with my own 'bus, ex Halifax AEC Regent 3, 378. None of this may be news, but if it helps with the background of this lovely old 'bus I'm glad. Keep up the good work
