I've found a photo in an old book ('Buses and Coaches 1945-1965' by John C Gillham), which shows another coach like this one with exactly the same radiator. The caption states: 'For the last year or so of production both double and single deck Crossleys had this improved style of radiator with more polished metal'.

Maudslay or Crossley?
I'm open to correction, but I thought Crossleys didn't have the central strip down the radiator?
