1403 was taken out of service on 31st October 1984, after operating the 21:00 Bradford to Haworth (driven by D Yates), after clocking more than 500,000 miles in service, and was the last Bristol REL to operate within the company
It was then bought by West Yorkshire Social Club (Bradford) in January 1985, and then sold (after the social club ceased to exist) to the 1403 Preservation Group on 31st March 1990 where it remains to date.

In this photograph, 1403 is being driven on a rally by ex-WY driver D. Yates. Also the last driver to drive 1403 on service.
