It is said that a Hull Trains-style service could be running between Wrexham, Shrewsbury and London, five times a day from summer 2007; if Network Rail can be persuaded into an open track agreement.Laing Rail, owner of the long-term Chiltern Railways franchise, is joining forces with Renaissance Trains of Hull fame to promote a new through seven-day service from London Marylebone. It will promise at-seat catering for every first class passenger. One task is to find suitable rolling stock - 4 three-car Class 170 type units would be needed because they have buffet facilities, which would require leasing companies to reshuffle fleets of existing operators. This is possible when FTPE release 00 Class 158 coaches, after Siemens Class 18 are commissioned. The first train of the day would depart Wrexham at about 0600 arriving Marylebone at about 0915, caling at: Shrewsbury, Telford, Cosford and Wolverhampton and possibly: Ruabon, Chirk and Gowbowen.
