This is the station were the first ever High Speed train derailment happened to a 125 going North back in the seventies, it came off on the approach to Northallerton station and came to a rest just about were that signal in the photo is, the 125 remained upright and there were very little poeple seriously hurt due to the trains construction.

The trains fly through Northallerton. It's one of the fastest parta of the ECML (between Darlington and York)
