When the northern part of the West Coast main line (London to Glasgow) is closed for engineering work the trains are diverted over the Settle and Carlisle line. As that line is not electrified they have to be hauled by a diesel locomotive before...
When the northern part of the West Coast main line (London to Glasgow) is closed for engineering work the trains are diverted over the Settle and Carlisle line. As that line is not electrified they have to be hauled by a diesel locomotive before rejoining the electrified route at Carlisle. Virgin Trains do not otherwise run trains over that route.

Pendolino
The Pendolino is there because the Voyagers are complete rubbish and short and Pendolinos are long so they can carry mre people. I think that is wrong though.

Why was it in that area anyway if there are no over head wires? ...Wayne
